St. John Ambulance of Malaysia (SJAM), a self-funding not-for-profit organization, being a leader in first aid, home nursing, humanitarian services, ambulance service and first aid training for everyone. With over 60,000 volunteers nationwide and over 6000 volunteers in Kedah, with more than 3.6 millions man-hours annually in service for mankind, SJAM volunteers always go extra mile to render the service to those in need, regardless of races, society status, religion and creed.
These volunteers are found at all sports events, festivals, parades and other functions big or small. They are ever ready to serve, come rain or shine, anytime of the year. They also assist in disasters like floods, fires, landslides, plane crashes, etc. As a service organization, the SJAM provides other community services such as haemodialysis centres, emergency as well as non-emergency ambulance services, and home nursing care for the underprivileged with the assistance of generous corporate bodies.
The objectives of SJAM :
a) encourage and promote all works of humanity and charity for the relief of persons in sickness, distress, suffering and danger without any distinction of race, class, colour or creed.
b) render aid to the sick and wounded in war or in peace and to promote such permanent organizations in time of peace so that such aid may immediately be available in time of emergency and such aid shall include the provision of technical reserves for medical services of the Government and Armed Forces of Malaysia.
